An organic farm of about 30 hectars which is also an antispecist animal shelter, that offers B&B accommodation at the edge of the Mediterranean coast of Syracuse. Only vegan breakfast is served unless you specifically ask otherwise. Depending from the season, this includes fresh orange juice, marmelade, whole grain loaf, porrige, oat milk and fruit available down the stairs.
Primo Passo Sea Garden offers complimentary kayaks to paddle through the sandy bays hidden among the white rocky beaches just across the street. Primo Passo is also a registered sanctuary (i.e. animal shelter) for rescued animals: currently 9 pigs are living at the watermill, 2 dogs are the entertainment of the B&B (see below pic) and hundreds of thousands of black bees enjoy the flowers in the sea garden. Primo Passo believes in permaculture and antispecism as a way of living and consider the money charged as a way to sustain the local environment and support the Sanctuary. Rainfall is collected, organic waste recycled, solar panels provide both electricity and hot water. It is a pleasure to guide guests through the old watermill, introduce childrens to the pigs, picking up fresh fruits and vegetables, sharing cooking recipes, shooting pictures around the lighthouse. Primo Passo has also been part of the Erasmus for young Entrepreneurs and EU4BCC program, hosting new entrepreneurs as part of this antispecist venture. The owner is vegan and lives in the premises along with his fluffy friends and honeybees.

A real oasis by the sea. Giuseppe and Augusto the dog are great hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, waking to a beautiful view and having a lovely breakfast on the terrace. Would have loved to stay longer and hope to return. We definitely recommend Primo Passo!
Ich habe mich von Anfang an sehr wohl gefühlt im Prima Passo. Der Gastgeber, Giuseppe, ist sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Gibt Rat und Tipps, auf Fragen gibt’s die richtige Antwort. Z.B.: Kultur und Geschichte Siziliens. Wo kann ich am besten Schwimmen gehen, wo gibt’s eine Einkaufsmöglichkeit…… und wie komme ich dahin…
Das feine, frisch zubereitete Frühstück am Morgen habe ich sehr genossen. Jeden Tag eine neue Variation, vom Gastgeber selber liebevoll zubereitet. Herzlichen Dank !
Seine beiden menschenfreundlichen Hunde waren immer da, was mich sehr freute, da ich alleine unterwegs war. Wer hat schon einen/oder zwei Hunde, die Nachts vor der Türe wachen ?
Die Farm mit den vielen Früchten und Gemüse durfte ich in Begleitung von Giuseppe besuchen, ein wundervoller Gang durch das Areal, wo auch noch Pic’s unter den Bäumen 🌳 leben.
Zudem : Nachts den Leuchtturm zu betrachten, das Rauschen des Meeres zu hören, am Morgen früh den 🌞 Sonnenaufgang und das Meer zu sehen.
